An Idea Whose Time Has Come

How the Carolina Thread Trail will unfold is as important as its future legacy. The project is to be locally driven within a larger specified region and also be far-reaching enough to benefit the entire region far into the future. It speaks to local communities at many levels—from economic development, recreation, historic and cultural preservation to environmental viability, health, fitness and personal well-being. Everyone can be a participant and everyone wins.

The time for the Carolina Thread Trail is today. We in the Carolinas enjoy a thriving economy. It follows that land will become less and less available and, in turn, more and more expensive. A landmark trail such as this may not be possible years down the road. Many regions of similar scope are ahead of us in developing trail systems. Delay offers no gains. The prudent path is to follow this trail now.
