The 1 mile long Carolina Thread Trail section of the Blue Star Trail begins at the trailhead of the parking lot on Dairy Barn Lane. It is located within the larger network of trails at Anne Springs Close Greenway. The trail begins as it follows a gravel road known as Historic Nations Ford Road, a trading pathway for Native Americans, European settlers, American Revolution and Civil War soldiers, traders and trappers for hundreds of years. In addition to this nationally significant site, the ASC Greenway contains two circa 1800 log cabins a 1780 hall and parlor log house and a Dairy cabins, Barn built in 1946. As it winds off the historic road through the woods, the path crosses a suspension bridge over Steele Creek before intersecting with Coltharp Road and the ASC Greenway Nature Center. The Thread will eventually wind its way down Coltharp Road intersecting with other pathways towards town rather than continuing on the Blue Star Trail within the park.
